“What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by
achieving your goals.”

As an attorney, I frequently interact with professionals of every kind. I have never met anyone with the combination of talent and character that Steve Davis has. He is incredibly sharp and very knowledgeable about whatever discipline he sets his mind to in business. As an influencer with Epoch Change, he brings his strong, unique, and highly diverse business portfolio to every professional endeavor, pulling from wide-ranging experience. What I’ve seen them accomplish as leaders and strategists is inspiring. Steve is a consummate professional, respected by others in and out of the consulting world.  He works very hard for his clients and achieves excellent results for them every time.  I am open to any opportunity in the future to work directly with him, his business partner, or Epoch Change Consulting. He has my highest recommendation.

Kerry Brooks and I have known each other for 25+ years. In that time, I have known him to be the consummate creative and intuitive professional - Equally adept and valuable at coaching an individual, a team, a leadership group, or a corporation. Brooks is keenly Insightful and has a deep perspective. I manage a sales team in the fast-paced medical sales space where individual accomplishment is integral to success, and operating as a team is paramount. His insight into the nuances of leadership dynamics, whether teaching or inspiring young leaders or lifelong professionals, is acute, focused, and frankly, inspirational. He has a rare and uncanny ability to make professionals believe they each serve a unique purpose in their careers and that they have unique gifts as individuals beyond it. His ability to see business scenarios from the top of the building enables him to assess, break down, strategize, and design a company’s Renaissance through complicated business paradigms. He wisely understands that people create problems. Therefore, they must be solved by people. As a Manager of medical device sales teams and clinicals in my charge, I have received motivation and encouragement. So Kerry and I have developed an ongoing friendship, encouraging each other to accomplish more than we had ever expected to in our parallel careers. The result has been next-level leadership. Kerry’s insights are deep, and his genuine interest in the success of others is authentic to his core. And now, as one of the thought leaders at Epoch Change, he can influence, teach, and motivate professionals on an even larger scale. Hire him. Period.

I have known Steve Davis and Kerry Brooks for almost 30 years, and I don’t have enough words to describe their talents, their copious experience, and their level of professionalism. Three words that instantly come to mind are intelligence, intuition, and determination. Their intelligence, based on 40-year careers, is integral to every conversation and professional interaction. You always know you are in good hands when they advise you. The professionalism they bring to bear when they represent you is world-class. They are smart and savvy communicators who are consistent and clear, enabling them to explain everything from marketing strategies to recruitment, how to wield your brand story, and how to work with your leadership and sales team. They listen first, so their conclusions are based on a client’s unique needs, not pre-conceived ideas. There is nothing templated about them. Davis and Brooks are world-class strategists and savant problem solvers. They will take whatever problems and challenges you present as a client, even those you didn’t know you had, and strategically craft solutions sure to create the best possible outcomes for you, your team, your brand, and your clients. I write very few recommendations, but this one was a pleasure. In short, just make the call!

No words could do justice to express precisely what Kerry’s mentorship meant to me as a younger, up-and-coming professional as a Realtor. There is a feeling you get when you are engaged in conversation with Kerry that is warm and uplifting, that makes you exude confidence when you leave the room, and that feeling can’t be replicated by anyone else. I am a former athlete, and I can confidently say that as a coach, Kerry is the kind of man I would run through a wall for, and that’s funny because Kerry was always quick to say, “Your sports metaphors don’t work with me!” I’d stop by Kerry’s office almost daily to get my refill of wisdom and encouragement. When we were no longer at the same brokerage, a piece of my business was missing, but through phone calls and texts, Kerry made his way back into my head and my heart and gave me the confidence to take on life and whatever it brought me. With Kerry’s help, I’ve gotten through the rigors of a booming sales career, received guidance and grace as I overcame alcoholism, and was met with positivity and undying support as I navigated a major career shift from sales back to my passion in public secondary education and coaching. I owe Kerry Brooks more than I can ever give - it’s a good thing he’s never asked for anything in return, but friendship. Thank you, Kerry.

Kerry Brooks, Steve Davis, and their consulting company Epoch Change have impacted my career and life monumentally in such a short time. As a former teacher and current sales executive in tech, I was referred to Kerry during a very tumultuous time in my life after experiencing career and company changes in the span of three years. During this time, Kerry provided advice that was pivotal in allowing me to successfully navigate the uncertainties of losing my job in an industry that was undergoing a lot of changes with lots of competition. I'll never forget the first thing he said after our first meeting: "You sound like your path has been purposeful," reassuring me that I had a story to tell. Kerry took time to listen to my background and was naturally curious about my personal and career expectations. We developed an actionable and tailored plan that allowed me to secure multiple interviews over the span of a few weeks and led to a pay and title increase. I learned that I have a significant, unique, and compelling story that differentiates me from my competition. They taught me how to package myself to achieve things I hadn’t previously thought possible. After our meetings, I felt empowered and confident in my ability to articulate my "Why" and what I brought to the table. I can definitively say that meeting with Kerry, Steve, and Epoch Change allowed me to recalibrate and reframe my mindset and talk track and will aid me both professionally and personally.

I had the opportunity to work with Steve in corporate sales for over 15 years.  His approach to life and business is unique and inspirational to everyone he encounters.  His expertise is vast, but his unusual talent to break down any scenario or conflict to what is significant and then move forward to a higher level of success is unlike anyone I have ever encountered.  The time I spent working with Steve was invaluable to me personally and professionally.

I met Steve in a professional networking organization where he represented the challenging real estate market in our city. His professionalism was immediately evident, and I was drawn to his personality and energy. As a human, he is warm, engaging, and has a great sense of humor. I have had no qualms about working with or referring my clients to Steve Davis.

Steve's approach to his clients is not just professional but deeply caring. He takes the time to understand their needs and desires; this personal touch guides the transaction. I've seen how this approach makes clients feel genuinely cared for during the often stressful buying or selling of a home. I can't recommend Steve enough. He’s a keeper!

I was introduced to Steve by a trusted friend who is also a real estate professional. We immediately connected. I knew from the start he was the right professional to market my Austin townhome despite a challenging economy and ever-increasing days on the market for homes. Steve’s extensive experience in sales at the corporate level and the real estate space provided me with the ultimate client experience. Steve’s expertise, problem-solving approach, and creative marketing techniques separated him from all others. He is unique and is at a completely different level from any other I had previously experienced in the real estate space. At first, I questioned his recommendations because they were out-of-the-box and cutting-edge. Ultimately, everything he confidently recommended worked, and my listing was under contract in just two days! I encourage anyone needing assistance with any one of his many professional sales, marketing, or leadership talents to reach out to him and his team. Steve has my highest and most enthusiastic recommendation.

I first became acquainted with Kerry in 1994 when he hired me to serve as pianist for one of the largest churches in the St. Louis, MO metropolitan area, a non-denominational, contemporary church, one of the largest in the Midwest, with nationally known music/drama/and practical teaching programs.

What I have learned over 50 years as a musician - very talented, creative artists will not respect or follow a leader who is not at least as intelligent and skilled as they are.  Kerry never had that problem. He understood the mindset and personality of the creatives on our team because he was one himself.  He is a gifted musician/vocalist, pianist, songwriter, actor, and playwright. When he taught, it was intelligently passionate, and it was standing room only -  a testament to the respect his team had for him and his leadership ability.

One of Kerry’s strengths is his strong interpersonal/communication skills.  He had a vision for each performance and he knew how to cast that vision to his team. Excellence was always his expectation. He knew how to approach individuals so you were compelled to do your best for him. I always felt valued and respected in my dealings with Kerry.  Every time I walked off stage after a performance, he met me there, and would invariably say, “Thanks Gare.”  He appreciated what I did, what each of us did.

Kerry has a charisma and confidence about him that makes you want to follow his lead.  He knew what he was doing, where he was going, had an end goal in mind, and covered the details to a T. If you were on his team, you knew he had your back and that he recognized and believed in your singular gift. Once because of a difficult situation in my personal life, I went to Kerry to tender my resignation. Kerry calmly reaffirmed his belief in me and my role on his team. He had our backs, in good and bad, and believed in us even when we couldn’t believe in ourselves.

Kerry Brooks ranks among the most brilliant, creative, talented, and dynamic leaders I have ever worked with. It still boggles my mind when I think back on how he built such a world-class production team and the successful, dynamic force that it became. That he was so successful in doing so was nothing short of miraculous. His legacy lives on in each of us.

As I contemplated my next move to grow my business, I scheduled an appointment to meet Kerry Brooks (Broker) from Dielmann Sotheby’s International Realty. I had no idea with whom I was meeting, and I only knew the name. Kerry. I arrived first, got my coffee, and sat down, waiting for someone to ask me if I was Beth. A tall man in a dapper suit walked through the door, and that is where my story began.

My plan was to meet with Kerry, absorb as much good information as possible, and leave. I have sat through too many coffee and lunch meetings to know they do not move the needle for me. This day was different. There was something about Kerry that was different. I found myself wanting to lean in and listen with more intent.

The difference between Kerry and all the other brokers was stark. Other Brokers wanted to know what I would do for them. Kerry led with what he could do for me, asked me what I needed, what he could do to pull the star quality out of me. He had the ability to know what questions I needed intrinsically answered and what questions to ask me to understand what motivates me. I usually look at my watch to see how much longer I need to stay before getting up and going on with my day. I do not know how long we sat there, but it may have been hours.

I left that meeting with a change within me. It was unexpected and amazing to feel that I was being heard, that I was being seen, and that I could let go of crushing fear and jump in with both feet. I went to my current broker, asked for my license, and never looked back.

Before Kerry became my Broker and friend, I ran my business as an anomaly that did not actually feel real. I thought it was just by luck and that I was not talented or good enough to grow any further. I was tightly holding on to what I created in fear of losing it, not realizing that it was me who made it work. I came to Kerry with little confidence that I knew what I was doing. I can certainly say that I had imposter syndrome.

Once I settled in and began my days in the office with Kerry, we became confidants and close friends. Kerry gave me the greatest gift that I could never repay. Not only was he my broker, but he was also the leader who knew how to rally his agents, all of us. The gift was finding out I was a teacher for many years and loved teaching. I missed it terribly and contemplated going back into the field. It was my passion, but I needed a higher income to support my children and their education. Kerry realized this and offered me a chance to train other agents in the office. My training class was a modification of the classes I taught at the University. It made me whole. Kerry gave me an opportunity that no one else had. That is the Leader he is—he leads from behind while opening doors for the people in front of him.

Successful leaders read people to find that one spark needed to show someone what they are capable of. Kerry’s leadership style changed not only me but many of the agents we worked with. He removed himself from the equation as my real estate broker. He allowed me to fully recognize that my passion for teaching was actually the reason my real estate business was successful. He helped me realize it was not a fluke, that I was not an imposter, and that I should accept my success and throw away any question of my ability.

My life was forever changed on that summer day at the coffee shop. Kerry Brooks is the Leader of Leaders with one goal: to make the people around him recognize the strengths within to keep going.

Start your journey

Your path is uniquely yours. The praise, the critique, the outcomes, and the reverberations are exclusively yours. While others may steer, encourage, or ignite your fire, a few may veer you off course. Yet, remember this - you are the solitary captain of this expedition. Have the audacity to pursue the existence you crave, the valor to construct it, the sagacity to claim it, and the daring to EMBRACE it.
